Residents of Beauaraba Living are being given as much opportunity to lead as normal a life as possible. Unfortunately, family and friends are NOT able to visit at this time.

It is hoped the pandemic can be brought under control around Australia in a reasonable time, allowing lives to return to some form of normality.

This update has been put together to reassure all family members that life within Beauaraba Living goes on, and we will not be letting the coronavirus beat us!

We thank you all, families, friends and community members for your understanding and supporting the residents and staff in these uncertain times.

We are very pleased to say that no resident or staff member have come into contact with the virus. To date we are totally COVID-19 free. We continue to do our best to keep it this way.

Staff are working hard to ensure that residents can keep in contact with family members by every means possible. We are all getting good at the following apps to enable the residents to see and talk to family, friends and loved ones.

If you would like to take advantage of any, Skype, Zoom, FaceTime or email, please make contact with Trish from the Lifestyle team for assistance.

Emails : You are more than welcome to email photos. The wonderful administration staff will be happy to print and deliver. Send to: admin@beauarabaliving.org.au

Waving Window: A new concept that is working throughout Queensland, catching up by either waving or talking on phones through glass panels/windows. Should you wish to take up this option please phone ahead to admin 07 4619 8422 and advise which location. This will allow time for staff to assist the resident and set up to be ready.

Pittsworth District Alliance and Gardens of the Downs have organised an open weekend on the 17th and 18th of April, 2021.

We have had wonderful rain and the town is looking fantastic after a very long dry period. We will have gardens open and buses running both days, morning and afternoon, North, South, East and West to outlying industries and agricultural areas showcasing the history of the surrounding Pittsworth Area with a local guide onboard. There will be buses also running from the main street to Beauaraba Living and The Grange Country Villas.

The main street businesses will open for extended hours and there will be markets throughout featuring only local artisans and producers. The Art Gallery will be open with the ‘Showcasing Autumn Art’ Exhibition. The Pittsworth Function Centre will host a display of images of the region by the U3A Photography group and a plant stall along with a historical display by the Pittsworth Garden Club. Schools and sports groups will have displays along with local craft groups. Children are catered for with activities and games including a jumping castle and petting zoo.

There will be 10 gardens open for viewing and the historic churches of Pittsworth will also open their doors. Entertainment by the local singing groups and local bands will take place on the Courthouse Corner over the weekend. All food and drinks for the weekend will be supplied by the local food outlets. A truck, vehicle and machinery display is organized and there will be car clubs coming through town over the weekend.

This event has been organized to showcase what we in Pittsworth have to offer. So, arrange for all of your friends and relatives to come and visit that weekend as it is going to be fantastic!

We look forward to having a wide range of stalls so whether you are looking for fruit and vegetables, home cooking, honey, plants, furniture or a variety of crafts, you’ll find them.

The Trash and Treasure stall might have just the thing you’ve been looking for. The market will be a great place to find something different for Christmas presents.
Many of the stall-holders are local people. They appreciate the support of the community at markets, so come and see what a range of talents Pittsworth and the Downs can produce.

Doug Hendry will be entertaining with his music for those who like to relax over morning tea, while the Lions will provide a BBQ and soft drinks. Lions Christmas cakes and puddings will be available.

The coffee van will cater for all coffee addicts. Face-painting will be there for the children and the Pittsworth Rock Drop members are coming – children, or adults, will be able to paint a rock to hide around the town or to add to their collection.

Come and join us for a great morning. For more information you can ring Wilma Proudlock on 0438 933 308 or e-mail on wproudlock@bigpond.com

The Pittsworth Local Australia Day Committee (LADC) in conjunction with the Toowoomba Regional Council and the Australia Day Council Queensland Inc. will be recognising outstanding contributions to the local community as part of the 2020 Australia Day Celebrations.

Nominations are now open for the 2020 Australia Day Awards under the following categories:

Citizen of the Year Award – for persons 26 years or older as at 26th of January, 2020

Young Citizen of the Year Award – for persons under 26 years of age as at 26th of January, 2020

Cultural Award

Senior Sports Award – for persons 26 years or older as at 26th of January, 2020

Junior Sports Award – for persons under 26 years of age as at 26th of January, 2020

Community Group / Event Award

Citizen of the Year Award – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander – Regional Award only

Local nominations that are eligible for the Regional Awards will also be put forward to the Regional Australia Day Awards Selection Panel for their consideration.

All award winners will be announced at the Pittsworth Australia Day Celebration on the 26th January 2020.

I would cordially invite your organisation to nominate worthy and meritorious events and members of the community for one or more of these awards.

It is often the case that people who make significant contributions to the community receive little or no recognition for their efforts. These awards provide an opportunity for the community to say “Thank you and well done!” I would therefore urge you to seriously consider submitting suitable nominations.

Nominations can be made on-line through the Toowoomba Regional Council website www.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au<http://www.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au

In addition, nomination forms are available at Council’s Customer Service Centre across the region, or can be requested by calling 131 872 during office hours. Nominations should be marked “Private and Confidential” and will close Thursday 31st October, 2019.
