Prompt Response Saves Future Ergon Power Poles
A sustainable forestry plantation northeast of Toowoomba, designed to become a future source of power poles for Ergon Energy, narrowly escaped disaster when bushfires ripped through the region this week. Sustainable Pole Farm Manager David Wood said the quick response to the fire when it threatened the 1300ha forest called Eagle Rock, near Ravensbourne, prevented future power poles worth millions of dollars from going up in smoke. Following on from the success of hospital goods auctions last year and earlier this year, the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is set to conduct another major auction at Toowoomba Hospital Saturday 27th October 2012. Over 350 lots are on offer, with chairs, tables, dexion shelves, beds, cupboards, bedside lockers, stainless steel and many more items all to go under the hammer. Toowoomba – Smoke Haze In Area
As released by QFRS 25/10/2012 6:04:14 PM Multiple Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews will remain on scene over night monitoring fire edges at several large fires burning safely within containment lines in the Ravensbourne, Perseverance and Cressbrook area. This fire, which was sparked as a result of lightning strikes in the area, has been burning since Saturday, 20th October.
